Damir Mukhetdinov (1977, Gorky, Russia), 48 years old.
Russian Muslim theologian, religious and public figure, doctor of theology, candidate of political sciences, first deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, rector of the Moscow Islamic Institute, professor at St. Petersburg State University, head of the Center for Islamic Studies at St. Petersburg State University.
In 1999, he graduated from the Institute of Arabic Language of the University "Umm al-Kura" in Mecca (Saudi Arabia). In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of International Relations of the Lobachevsky University (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia). In 2006, he defended his Ph.D. thesis in Political Science. In 2020, he defended his dissertation on the topic: “The Islamic Renovation Movement of the Late 20th – Early 21st Century: Ideas and Perspectives” at St. Petersburg State University, receiving his doctorate in theology.

Research issue: Researcher of the Russian Islamic theological school, the history of Islam in Russia and the world Islamic renewal movement.
Author and co-author of numerous encyclopedic and journal articles, textbooks, monographs and scientific reports on theology, philosophy, history and religious studies.
He is the founder of the “Medina” Publishing House (idmedina.ru); the editor-in-chief of the most popular Muslim newspapers “Medina al-Islam”; of the “the Minbar Islam”; of the “the Minaret of Islam”, which the only theological magazine in the Muslim world published in three languages (Russian, Arabic, English); of the peer-reviewed academic journal “Islam in the Modern World”, which is included in the list of the leading peer-reviewed scientific publications, formed by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (since 2015). He is the editor-in-chief of the series of encyclopedic dictionaries “Islam in the Russian Federation”.
Interreligious activities:
Damir Mukhetdinov is a consistently participant of interreligious meetings, conferences and forums located to the Russia and abroad. He is an initiator and organizer interreligious activates in Russia. He is the author of works and numerous articles dedicated to the interreligious topic.
Since 2015 – Official representative of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Russian Muftis Council in the Interreligious Council of Russia.
Since 2021 – Editor-in-chief of the series of Interreligious dialogue based on the Muslim International Forum and the “Medina” Publishing House.
