If the author does not plan to finalize the article, he must notify the editorial board of the journal. The article will be discontinued.
If the author has a conflict of interest with an expert who could potentially become a reviewer of the manuscript, he must notify the issuing editor and/or the deputy editor-in-chief of the journal. The editorial board of the journal "Islam in the modern world" will select a new expert if necessary.
In the process of reviewing a manuscript, a conflict may arise between the author and the reviewer. In this case, the issuing editor and/or deputy editor-in-chief of the journal Islam in the Modern World has the right to appoint a new reviewer for the manuscript and involve the editor-in-chief to resolve disputes.

Publishing Ethics
The section was prepared based on materials from the scientific literature publisher Elsevier; as well as on materials from the International Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)
Introduction
1.1. Publishing materials in peer‑reviewed journals is not only a simple way of scientific communication; it also makes a significant contribution to the development of the relevant field of scientific knowledge. Thus, it is important to establish standards for future ethical conduct for all parties involved in the publication process; namely: the authors; the journal’s editors; the reviewers; the publisher; and the scientific society for the journal “Islam in the modern world”.
1.2. The publisher not only supports scientific communication and invests in this process; it is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all current recommendations in the published work.
1.3. The publisher undertakes to exercise the strictest oversight of scientific materials. Our journal programs represent an impartial “report” on the development of scientific thought and research; therefore, we also recognize our responsibility for the proper presentation of these “reports”; especially in terms of the ethical aspects of publications; as set out in this document.
2. Editors’ Responsibilities
2.1. Publication Decision
The editor of the academic journal “Islam in the modern world” is personally and independently responsible for making the decision to publish; often in cooperation with the relevant Scientific Society. The reliability of the work under consideration and its scientific significance must always form the basis for the decision to publish. The editor may be guided by the editorial policy of the journal “Islam in the modern world”; being limited by the current legal requirements regarding defamation; copyright; legality; and plagiarism.
The Editor may consult with other Editors and Reviewers (or officials of the Scientific Society) when making a decision on publication.
2.2. Integrity
The Editor must evaluate the intellectual content of manuscripts regardless of race; gender; religious views; origin; citizenship; or political preferences of the Authors.
2.3. Confidentiality
The editor and the Editorial Board of the journal “Islam in the modern world” are obliged not to disclose information about the accepted manuscript to anyone unnecessarily; with the exception of the Authors; the Reviewers; possible Reviewers; other scientific consultants; and the Publisher.
2.4. Disclosure Policy and Conflicts of Interest
2.4.1 Unpublished data obtained from manuscripts submitted for consideration cannot be used in personal research without the written consent of the Author. Information or ideas obtained during the review process and related to potential benefits must be kept confidential and not used for personal gain.
2.4.2 Editors must recuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts (namely, they should request a Co‑Editor, an Assistant Editor, or collaborate with other members of the Editorial Board when reviewing the work instead of reviewing and making a decision themselves) if there are conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other interactions and relationships with the Authors, companies, and possibly other organizations associated with the manuscript.
2.5. Publication oversight
The Editor; who has provided convincing evidence that the statements or conclusions presented in the publication are erroneous; must inform the Publisher (and/or the relevant Scientific Society) in order to promptly notify them of any necessary changes; the withdrawal of the publication; expressions of concern; and other statements appropriate to the situation.
2.6. Engagement and collaboration in research
The Editor, together with the Publisher (or the Scientific Society), takes appropriate countermeasures in the event of ethical concerns regarding the reviewed manuscripts or published materials. Such measures generally include interaction with the Authors of the manuscript and the аргументация of the relevant complaint or demand; but may also involve interaction with the relevant organizations and research centers.
3. Responsibilities of the Reviewers
3.1. Influence on the decisions of the Editorial Board
Peer review helps the Editor make a decision about publication and, through appropriate interaction with the Authors, can also help the Author improve the quality of their work. Peer review is a necessary link in formal scientific communication; it lies at the very “heart” of the scientific approach. The Publisher shares the view that all scientists who wish to contribute to publication are obliged to perform substantial work on reviewing the manuscript.
3.2. Diligence
Any selected reviewer who feels they are not sufficiently qualified to review the manuscript or who does not have enough time to complete the work promptly must notify the Editor of the journal “Islam in the modern world” and request to be excluded from the review process for the relevant manuscript.
3.3. Confidentiality
Any manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document. This work must not be opened or discussed with any persons who do not have the Editor’s authority to do so.
3.4. Manuscript requirements and objectivity
The reviewer is obliged to provide an objective assessment. Personal criticism of the Author is unacceptable. Reviewers should express their opinion clearly and in a reasoned manner.
3.5. Acknowledgment of primary sources
Reviewers should identify significant published works that are relevant to the topic and not included in the manuscript’s bibliography. For any statement (observation; conclusion; or argument) that has been published elsewhere, the manuscript must include the corresponding bibliographic reference. The reviewer must also draw the Editor’s attention to any significant similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and any other published work; within the reviewer’s area of scientific expertise.
3.6. Disclosure policy and conflicts of interest
3.6.1 Unpublished data; obtained from manuscripts submitted for consideration; cannot be used in personal research without the Author’s written consent. Information or ideas; obtained during the review process and related to possible benefits; must be kept confidential and not used for personal gain.
3.6.2. Reviewers should not participate in the review of manuscripts if there are conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other interactions and relationships with any of the Authors, companies, or other organizations related to the submitted work.
4. Authors’ Responsibilities
4.1. Manuscript Requirements
4.1.1 The authors of a report on original research must provide reliable results of the work carried out, as well as an objective discussion of the significance of the research. The data underlying the work must be presented without error. The work must contain sufficient details and bibliographic references to allow for possible reproduction. False or deliberately erroneous statements are considered unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
4.1.2. Reviews and scientific articles must also be accurate and objective; the Editorial Board’s point of view must be clearly stated.
4.2. Data access and storage
The Authors may be requested to provide raw data related to the manuscript for review by the Editorial Board. The Authors must be prepared to provide open access to this type of information (in accordance with the ALPSP‑STM Statement on Data and Databases) if this is feasible; and in any case, be prepared to preserve this data for an adequate period of time after publication.
4.3. Originality and plagiarism
4.3.1 Authors must ensure that the work submitted is entirely original, and if they use the works or statements of other Authors, they must provide the appropriate bibliographic references or excerpts.
4.3.2 Plagiarism can take many forms: from presenting someone else’s work as one’s own to copying or paraphrasing significant parts of someone else’s work (without attribution) and to claiming ownership of the results of someone else’s research. Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.
4.4. Multiple, redundant, and simultaneous publications
4.4.1. In general, the Author should not publish a manuscript; mostly devoted to the same study; in more than one journal as an original publication. Submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal is considered unethical behavior and is unacceptable.
4.4.2. In general, the Author should not submit a previously published article for consideration to another journal.
4.4.3. The publication of a certain type of articles (for example; clinical guidelines; translated articles) in more than one journal is in some cases ethical, provided that certain conditions are met. The authors and editors of the journals concerned must agree to a secondary publication; which must present the same data and interpretations as in the originally published work.
The bibliography of the original work must also be included in the secondary publication.
4.5. Acknowledgment of primary sources
It is always necessary to acknowledge the contribution of other individuals. Authors must refer to publications that are relevant to the work presented. Data obtained privately, for example, during a conversation, correspondence, or in the course of discussions with third parties, should not be used or presented without the clear written permission of the primary source. Information obtained from confidential sources, such as the evaluation of manuscripts or the provision of grants, should not be used without the clear written permission of the authors of the work related to the confidential sources.
4.6. Authorship of the publication
4.6.1 Only individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception of the work; its development; execution; or interpretation of the presented research may be authors of the publication. All those who have made a significant contribution must be designated as co‑authors. In cases where the study participants have made a substantial contribution to a specific area of the research project, they must be listed as individuals who have made a significant contribution to the study.
4.6.2. The author must ensure that all participants who made a significant contribution to the study are listed as co‑authors, and that those who did not participate in the study are not listed as co‑authors; that all co‑authors have seen and approved the final version of the work and agree to its submission for publication.
4.7. Risks; as well as people and animals that serve as research subjects.
4.7.1 If the work involves the use of chemical products; procedures; or equipment; the operation of which may involve any unusual risk; the author must clearly indicate this in the manuscript.
4.7.2 If the work involves the participation of animals or humans as research subjects; the authors must ensure that the manuscript states that all stages of the study comply with the legislation and regulatory documents of the research organizations; and are also approved by the relevant committees. The manuscript must clearly reflect that informed consent has been obtained from all individuals who have become research subjects. It is always necessary to ensure compliance with the right to privacy.
4.8. Disclosure Policy and Conflicts of Interest
4.8.1 All Authors are required to disclose in their manuscripts any financial or other existing conflicts of interest that may be perceived as having influenced the results or conclusions presented in the work.
